Dog
Dogs, (Latin: Canislupusfamiliaris, English name dog) Chinese also known as “dogs”, dogs belong to the carnivorous order, distributed throughout the world.
Dogs, together with horses, cattle, sheep, pigs, and chickens, are called “six animals.”
Some scientists believe that dogs were domesticated from gray wolves by early humans, and domesticated 40,000 to 15,000 years ago, and have developed to this day. Known as “man’s most loyal friend”, it is now the most well-kept pet. Its lifespan is about ten years.
In Chinese culture, the dog belongs to one of the zodiac signs, ranking 11th among the zodiac signs.

Global quantity
Dogs are a very common canine mammal and the most frequently kept pet.
According to The United Nations, the total number of dogs in the world is about 600 million, and there are about 200 million in China. Dogs are the earliest domesticated animals by humans.
Merit contribution
Nursing dogs: guarding human safety and property, nursing homes….
Play with dogs: companionship, play appreciation….
Hunting Dogs: Hunting Stormtroopers….
Livestock dogs: sheepdogs, cattle dogs….
Medical dogs: Because dogs are optimistic by nature, they are suitable for caring for and accompanying people with mental illness, depression, and autism (excluding violent patients); the premise is to choose a dog that has been domesticated and will not cause trouble, otherwise it may increase the burden and lead to aggravation of the disease.
Nursing dogs: take care of people who are difficult to take care of themselves, paralyzed people; can help people take off shoes /socks, plug card withdrawal, open/close the door, turn on/off the lights, push/pull the car, take things from the refrigerator….
Guide dog: Compared with the responsibility of caring for the dog, the responsibility is heavier, always accompany the owner, most of the things the owner does need the assistance of the guide dog; guide the owner to cross the road, the dog goes to buy things alone….
Military dogs: Some countries have special military dog medals; military dogs, police dogs, customs anti-drug dogs, airport gunpowder monitoring dogs…
Search and rescue dogs: avalanches, earthquakes, fires and other disasters for search and rescue work.
Traffic dogs: Eskimos near the Arctic Circle and some people in northeast China use “sled dogs”.
Performance dogs: Most circuses have dogs dedicated to performance, many skills, talents…
Experimental Dogs:
(1) Medical experiments: In medical and pharmaceutical research, because the weight of mice and people are too different, it is often necessary to use dogs to do experiments.

Species evolution
Canine ancestors
No one knows exactly when the first interaction between man and wolf occurred. Some scientists think it may have been 50,000 years ago, because it took at least that long for wolves to develop the genetic differences they have today. Humans and wolves were distributed in many places on the Earth’s surface at the time, and evolutionary processes could occur in several different regions. Some scholars believe that wolves were domesticated from wild wolves to domestic animals, i.e., dogs, from wild wolves 14,000 years ago, and possibly even in southeastern Asia 16,000 years ago, for playing, hunting, and nursing homes.
There is a consensus that dogs originated from wolves, but there are many opinions around the specific origin and time. The earliest evidence of dog fossils is from a mandibular fossil from Germany 14,000 years ago, and these archaeological evidence supports that dogs originated in Southwest Asia or Europe, while on the other hand, the skeletal identification characteristics of dogs suggest that dogs may have originated in wolves, thus proposing the East Asian origin of dogs. In addition, different breeds of dogs are extremely diverse in morphology and seem to favor the hypothesis that dogs originate from wolves in different geographical groups. Archaeology alone is difficult to provide reliable clues about the origin of dogs. (Continued/Click: ).
The process of domestication
Researchers at the University of Arizona in the United States have unearthed two dog skulls at least 33,000 years old from Belgium and Siberia, respectively, showing that dogs have been tamed by humans since ancient times.
The researchers said the two dogs had shorter noses and wider jaws, while wolf-like wild animals needed to catch prey with their slender noses and narrow jaws. They believe that this indicates that our ancestors began to domesticate dogs long ago to ward off danger and dispel loneliness. The researchers also believe that dogs may be the first animals domesticated by humans, much earlier than domestic animals in time. (Continued content/click: ) .
Genetic code
Dog evolution has been linked to starch digestion: Researchers from Uppsala University have revealed many changes that have taken place in the evolution of wild dogs to become humans’ best friend by comparing the whole genomes of dogs and wolves. Unsurprisingly, many of these differences affect the brain, which may explain the differences in temperament between wolves and dogs. In addition, this comparative study also pointed to several areas associated with digestion, including genes that help break down starch.
The researchers say that by finding humans and eating human leftovers, it is possible for dogs to domesticate themselves. Fossil and genetic studies in Israel have identified the period of dog domestication as about 10,000 years ago, coinciding with the period of the Agricultural Revolution, when humans transitioned from nomadic hunters to farming and living in settlements. Some scientists believe wolves were drawn to the junkyards of these early settlements, feeding on leftovers of vegetables and cereals. (Continued content/click: ) .
Civilization influence
As the earliest domesticated domestic animals of human beings, the existence and evolution of dogs are inextricably linked to the development of human civilization. For it, Westerners celebrate it with exquisite works of art, and regard it as the most faithful guardian. But dogs have always had a low status in the minds of Chinese. This is evident in the archaeological discoveries that continue to be unearthed in China.
The most anticipated thing is that in the Zhoujia Oil Mill and other strata of Zhoujia Oil Mill in Yushu County, Jilin Province, China, that is, the late Pleistocene of the Paleolithic Age, about 26,000 BC to 10,000 BC, a large number of mammal fossils were found, in addition to human fossils, the skulls of domestic dogs “semi-fossils” appeared. While some believe it belongs to Pleistocene fossils, more experts believe they are the remains of Holocene or modern animals. Such Paleolithic remains of domestic dogs can indicate that residents of northeast China have begun to domesticize dogs. That is to say, the northeastern domestic dog has appeared in the late Paleolithic period, about 10,000 years ago. The original human beings in northeast China were the Mongolian Tunguska people, so it is reasonable to believe that the ancestors of Donghu, Rong, Di and Sushen first domesticated dogs, of which Rong was a famous dog-raising clan.
It can be seen that Northeast China and Mongolia were the centers of domestic dog domestication in the late Paleolithic period and early and middle Neolithic. In addition, fossil bones of domestic dogs in the late Holocene have been excavated in Anyang, Henan, Cishan, Hebei, Banpo, Xi’an, Shaanxi, Dawenkou, Shandong, Changzhou, Jiangsu and other places, which can be affirmed that China is one of the centers of domestic dogs. Characteristics – physiology
The dog’s sense of smell
Dogs have the highest olfactory sensitivity among all animals, and blind dogs can use their noses to live like normal dogs. The sensitive sense of smell of dogs is mainly manifested in two aspects: one is the sensitivity to odors; the other is the ability to distinguish odors. Sensitivity varies depending on the type of taste, about 1200 times that of the human sense of smell. A dog’s nose can discern about 2 million different odors, and it’s also highly analytical, able to sniff out the kind it’s looking for from many mixed smells. Dogs can perceive odors up to the molecular level. For example, when 1 cubic centimeter contains 9000 butyric acid molecules, dogs can smell it, and in general, there are about 268 × 10.e+ 16 molecules per cubic centimeter of air. Therefore, the concentration of butyric acid felt in dogs is 3.36× 10.e-17 When someone dilutes sulfuric acid by one in ten million, the dog can still sniff out, and the olfactory sensitivity to acidic substances is tens of thousands of times higher than that of humans.
According to the results of the European Lung Foundation, lung cancer is the second most commonly dead cancer in Europe. The study found that olfactory-trained dogs were able to smell 71 of the exhalation samples of 100 lung cancer patients, and the sampling without lung cancer was also able to achieve a discrimination accuracy of 372/400. Dog hearing
Auditory sensing can reach 120,000 hertz, which is 16 times that of humans. The maximum distance to listen to is about 400 times that of a person. Dogs are also 2 times more capable of distinguishing the direction of sound than humans, and can distinguish 32 directions. It can distinguish between metronomes and 96 or 100 vibrations per minute, 133 or 144. Dogs for people’s passwords and simple language, can establish conditioned reflexes according to tonal syllable changes.
Dogs can hear forty thousand circumferential waves. The sound collected through the large ear, vibrating through the ear canal vibrating the eardrum, and even vibrating the auricular ossicles of the middle ear, is transmitted to the lymphatic fluid of the inner ear, and then transmitted by the auditory nerve to the brain. Dogs can distinguish between very small or high frequency sounds (ultrasound). The ability to judge the sound source is also very strong. When the dog hears the sound, due to the sympathetic effect of the ear and the eye, it is completely possible to see the six ways of the eye and listen to the eight directions. At night, it maintains a high degree of alertness even when sleeping, and can clearly distinguish sounds within 1 km. Special attention is paid to the fact that we do not have to shout at the dog, too high a voice or audio is an adversity stimulus for it, which will make it feel painful, frightened or panicked.
Dog vision
Dogs have only about three-quarters of a human’s vision, and across all animal species, dogs have about average vision. The dog’s one-eye can only see 25 degrees, so the closest distance to the front cannot be seen. Dogs’ eyeball crystals are relatively large, deformed like a horse’s eyeballs, so it is impossible to adjust the sense of distance and proximity, and twenty or thirty meters is about its boundary. Dogs have a special ability to detect moving objects; they can detect images that move 70 lines per second, while the average TV line moves about 60 times per second. When the light is dim, the dog’s vision is better than that of the human, and the dog is a natural predator, living by hunting, so they also have considerable vision in the dark. The dog’s eyes can see short wavelengths of color, in addition, the dog’s cornea is also larger, allowing more light to enter the eye, so it is easier to see things in the dim light. But in the darkness, when there is no light at all, the dogs cannot see.
The visual difference between humans and dogs lies in the response to light, and the human eye responds to the three primary colors (red, green, and blue) that cause various colors. Dr. Dennis Brooks, an associate professor of ophthalmology at the University of Florida Veterinary College, said that dogs’ vision is different from human vision; dogs can’t distinguish between colors like people, but dogs do see certain colors. Dogs can distinguish between different shades of blue, indigo and violet, but they have no special sensitivity to high-chroma colors such as red and green in the spectrum. Dr. Brooks’ research shows that red is dark for dogs and green is white for dogs, so green lawns appear to dogs as a white grass. (Continued/Click:).
Dog teeth
The canine teeth are all short crown-shaped, the crown of the first and second incisors of the upper jaw is trimodal, the middle is the canine spike, there are small spikes on both sides, the remaining incisors have two small canine spikes, the canine teeth are dry and curved conical, the tip is sharp, it is a powerful weapon for attack and self-defense, the anterior heliopause teeth are trident, and the sun teeth are multi-peaked.
(1) The tooth type of adult canine teeth (permanent teeth) is: incisors, canine teeth, premolars, molars a total of 42.
(2) Puppy teeth are: incisors, canine teeth, premolars a total of 28, missing 1 premolar and molar.
Dog age | Canine tooth growth |

2 to 4 months of age | Replace the first mastial incisor. |
5 to 6 months of age | Replace the second and third breast incisors and milk canine teeth. |
After 8 months of age | Replace all with permanent teeth. |
1 year old | The permanent teeth are long, white and shiny, and the incisors have sharp protrusions. |
1.5 years old | The first incisor spike of the lower jaw wears out to be level with the small spike, a phenomenon called spike wearout. |
2.5 years old | The second incisor spike of the lower jaw is worn out. |
3.5 years old | The first incisor of the upper jaw is sharpened. |
4.5 years old | The spike of the second incisor of the upper jaw is worn out. |
5 years old | The third incisor spike of the lower jaw is slightly worn, and the wear surface of the first and second incisors of the lower jaw is rectangular. |
6 years old | The third incisor of the lower jaw is sharpened and the canine teeth are bluntly rounded. |
7 years old | The first incisor of the lower jaw wears out to the root of the tooth, and the wear surface is longitudinally oval. |
8 years old | The first incisor of the lower jaw wears and tilts forward. |
10 years old | The wear surfaces of the second and first incisors of the upper jaw are longitudinally oval in shape. |
16 years old | The incisors are detached and the canine teeth are incomplete. |
Dog sweat glands
Canids such as dogs and wolves do not have very developed sweat glands in their bodies. Can’t be like people, by sweating to regulate body temperature, once their body heats up, it is difficult to reduce body temperature, so dogs are very afraid of heat.
Dogs also have two types of sweat glands, exocrine sweat glands and parietal sweat glands. The exocrine sweat glands used to regulate body temperature are only distributed on the meat pads of the four paws, and they are very few, and it is impossible to lower the body temperature by relying only on a little sweat from the paws. The apical sweat glands that cause their body odor are distributed throughout their bodies and have nothing to do with body temperature regulation.
As soon as the dog feels a little hot, it will open its mouth, stick out its tongue, and take a big gulp of panting, which can secrete a lot of saliva instead of sweat. Dogs dissipate heat by evaporating saliva and lower their body temperature. They drool in large quantities and reduce their body temperature by evaporating and absorbing heat through saliva evaporation. When the weather is hot, this method alone cannot cool down smoothly. Therefore, it is difficult for dogs to lower their body temperature. In particular, pugs, horn dogs, poodles and Chihuahua dogs and other dogs with small heads are not good at regulating body temperature because their respiratory organs are short, and they are particularly afraid of heat, so they should pay more attention.
The stomach of a dog
The digestive tract of dogs is shorter than that of herbivores, and the content of hydrochloric acid in the dog’s stomach ranks first in livestock, coupled with the thick intestinal wall and strong absorption capacity, so it is easy and suitable to digest meat foods.
Characteristics – habits
Diet is contraindicated
classify | Contraindicated diets for dogs | Hazards to dogs |
fruit | Grapes, raisins | Grapes and raisins can cause kidney failure in dogs, and sometimes just one raisin can kill a dog. |
Macadamia nuts, walnuts | Macadamia nuts can cause prostration, muscle cramps, and paralysis. Other nuts are also not good for dogs, nuts have a high phosphorus content can lead to kidney stones, should try to avoid. Peanut butter is an exception, but if peanut butter is fed, organic, sugar-free peanut butter should be used.
avocado | The avocado itself, the pits and the fruit trees are all poisonous. It can cause difficulty breathing and fluid in the chest and abdomen and heart. According to some people’s theories, the oil of avocado is good for dogs.
Apples, cherries, pears… or fruit-like “seeds and pits” | The seeds and cores of apples, cherries, pears or similar fruits contain cyanide, which is a lethal poison for both humans and dogs. Cyanide can also be found in the intestines of dogs and can kill dogs within 24 hours without warning.
Other fruits | For example, often eating fruit will also cause soft stools or diarrhea in dogs due to vitamin C and excessive fiber intake, and even abnormal kidney function and kidney stones in old age.
vegetable | Onions/shallots/leeks/peppers | Onions and onions contain disulfides, which are harmless to humans, but cause oxidation of red blood cells in dogs, which may cause hemolytic anemia and hematuria. Even by heating, it cannot destroy the harmful substances in it, so do not feed dogs food with onions and green onions. |
tomato | Tomatoes can cause spasms and heart rate abnormalities. However, this issue is debatable, because some high-quality dog food contains tomatoes.
Raw eggs | Vitamin H can promote dog growth and fur health, raw egg protein contains an anti-vitamin H protein substance, it will hinder the absorption of vitamin H by the dog body, causing vitamin H deficiency, resulting in dog diarrhea, mouth ulcers and skin diseases, be sure to cook the eggs and then give the dog to eat. Raw eggs can cause salmonella poisoning, and it is most appropriate to heat them before giving them to dogs.
mushroom | Commercially available edible shiitake mushrooms, mushrooms, etc. are harmless to dogs. However, it is still avoided for dogs to eat, so as not to develop the habit of eating mushrooms and mistakenly eat poisonous mushrooms in the wild.
condiments | salt | Excess salt can lead to kidney problems. |
sweets | Dogs need calcium supplementation, but sweet things can affect calcium absorption. Especially in the summer, it is better to eat less ice cream for dogs, it is not impossible, it is best to eat only ice without sweetness popsicles, the cooling effect is the best!
nutmeg | Nutmeg can cause spasms, heart attacks, and death.
Meat food | Animal fat, fried foods, leftover soups | Excess fat can lead to pancreatitis. |
It can penetrate the sharp bones of the gastrointestinal tract | Broken bones, such as chicken bones, may pierce a dog’s throat or cut a dog’s mouth, esophagus, stomach, or intestines. If you want to feed the bones, use a pressure cooker to boil, bone marrow is an excellent source of calcium, phosphorus, copper, and gnawing on large bones can help remove tartar.
Raw or cooked liver | A small amount of liver is good for dogs, but an overdose can cause problems. Because the liver contains a lot of vitamin A, it can cause vitamin A poisoning. The amount of 3 chicken livers (or the corresponding amount of other animal livers) a week can cause bone problems.
Raw meat, poultry meat | Dogs’ immune systems are unable to adapt to captive poultry and meat. The most common salmonella and Bacillus are very dangerous for dogs. And often fed raw meat will cause the dog’s primitive instincts, which in turn promote aggression.
pork | The fat balls inside pork are larger than other meats and can block the dog’s microvascular. Avoid pork products, especially bacon containing sodium nitrate.
And the rest | Chocolate (except white chocolate) | Chocolate can lead to heart attacks, coma, and death. The purine content of theobromine in chocolate is very high, they can damage the kidneys of dogs, and dogs have a much lower ability to degrade purines than people. Chocolate also contains caffeine, which is also very harmful to the health of dogs. The purer the chocolate and the smaller the dog, the greater the chance of poisoning. Theobromine contained in chocolate is the main factor causing dog poisoning, and the common chocolate on the market contains 115 mg of theobromine per kilogram, which is enough to cause the dog to die, while the general pure chocolate 100 g contains about 2800 mg of theobromine. The symptoms of chocolate poisoning are vomiting, diarrhea, frequent urination, restlessness, hyperactivity, rapid heartbeat and breathing, etc., and severe cases can also cause dog spasms and even death. |
Coffee, coffee beans, tea and tea bags | Caffeinated beverages and foods can be as deadly to dogs as chocolate.
Milk | Many dogs have lactose discomfort, and if the dog has farting, diarrhea, dehydration or skin inflammation after drinking milk, they should stop feeding milk. Dogs with lactose discomfort should consume milk that does not contain lactose. Puppies can be fed goat’s milk or goat’s milk cake because goat’s milk or yogurt dogs can fully absorb and utilize it.
Cat food | Cat food contains too much taurine, protein and other nutrients that are conducive to cat growth, and dogs will have insomnia, obesity and heart disease when they eat too much.
Foods that stimulate the sense of smell | Foods or supplies that are highly irritating to the sense of smell should not be smelled by the dog, which is very harmful to the dog’s sense of smell. |

Deciphering diet
Dog eating habits | |
Carnivores | Dogs are carnivores, and when feeding, they need to prepare more animal protein in the feed, supplemented by vegetarian ingredients, to ensure the normal development and health of dogs. |
Also eat vegetarian food | Dogs sometimes eat grass, but eat very little, occasionally spit out, dogs eat grass not to fill hunger, but to clear the stomach, mainly because of the dog’s unique gastrointestinal structure. The dog’s stomach is very large, accounting for about 2/3 of the abdominal cavity, while the intestines are very short, accounting for about 1/3 of the abdominal cavity, so the dog basically uses the stomach to digest food and absorb nutrients, easy to digest meat food, and not easy to digest things like leaves, grass and other “tendons”. Although dogs are carnivores, dogs can survive on foods such as vegetables and grains when survival is difficult. This type of dietary nutrition typical of wild predators comes from the stomach contents of the herbivores they capture. In addition, scientists have found that for situations such as dog sledding races like in Iditarod, Alaska, and others like experiencing extreme stress, high-protein foods (eating large amounts of meat) can help prevent muscle tissue damage. |
Loves to gnaw on bones | Dogs like to gnaw on bones. This is also the habit left behind by the raw time to tear the prey. We often give it some bones when feeding it. (*Remember: Don’t use poultry bones, as that may pierce the dog’s stomach) |
Eat dung | Dogs generally have varying degrees of feeding on human and their own feces. Studies have shown that dogs learned this habit by getting along with humans in the process of domestication for tens of thousands of years, which was one of the important sources of food that dogs had to accept feces as a food source during the food shortage period of early human society, and it is also believed that this is a pathological manifestation of dogs in the case of insufficient food, malnutrition and lack of certain trace elements or parasitic diseases. This behavior can also be reduced when supplementing trace element elements. |
Interpret sleep
Puppies and older dogs sleep longer, while younger and stronger dogs sleep less. Dogs are generally in a light sleep state, and can wake up with a little movement, but there are also times when they are asleep. Dogs sleep in an ambush position with their head prostrated between their two front paws, often with one ear close to the ground. Dogs are not easily awakened after sleeping, and sometimes emit dreams, such as barking and moaning, accompanied by twitching of limbs and shaking of the head and ears. When asleep, he often lay on his side, spreading out. It looks very good.
Dogs are not easily awakened by acquaintances and owners when they usually sleep, but they are still sensitive to unfamiliar sounds. After the dog is awakened from sleep, it often seems to be in a very bad mood, very dissatisfied with the person who woke it up, and the dog who has just woken up is blinded by sleep, and sometimes even the owner cannot recognize it. So its dissatisfaction will sometimes be vented to its owner, such as barking at your displeasure. Don’t wake it up because you’re bored or mischievous. (Continued/Click: ).
Interpret behavior
Dog behavior habits | |
hierarchy | When dogs live in groups, there is also a “hierarchy”. Establishing such an order can maintain the stability of the entire group and reduce the vicious fights and wars caused by food, living space and competition of the opposite sex. |
Circle before bedtime | Before the dog lies down, he always circles around to make sure that there is no danger, and then he will sleep peacefully. |
I like to be touched | Dogs like to be caressed on their belly and back. Try not to touch the top of your head, as it will make it feel depressed and dizzy. * Contraindications: Do not pet the ass and tail of a strange dog. |
Attitude towards strangers | The dog’s code of conduct towards strangers is to judge the strength of the opponent based on the height of his own line of sight. As soon as the stranger approaches, the feeling of oppression coming down from above will make it uneasy, and if you adopt a low posture, it will accept you. For strange dogs, crouch down and look elsewhere. * Taboo: Do not look at strange dogs, so as not to cause provocative misunderstandings to the dog. |
Exposed belly | The dog lets the family see its belly to show surrender, admit mistakes and obedience, and spoil the other party. Dogs will never attack an opponent who has fallen and exposed his stomach. When the stomach lies down to sleep, it means that it is very relieved or trusting, so that people can see or let people touch its belly. When dogs and dogs meet for the first time, the lower status dog will see the higher status dog and show its belly, even if the other party is full of anger, it will be alleviated. |
Wag your tail | A human smile and a dog wagging its tail are similar forms of communication, and the dog’s use of its tail to suggest mental reflection is a kind of “language” for it. Generally when excited or happy, it will shake its head and tail, the tail will not only swing from side to side, but also continue to rotate; the tail will be cocked to indicate joy; the tail will droop, which means danger; the tail will not move, indicating uneasiness: the tail is clipped, indicating fear; the tail is quickly and horizontally shaken, symbolizing friendship. The movement of the dog’s tail is also related to the tone of the owner. |
Avoid groups | When a dog is sick, it will instinctively avoid humans or other dogs, and hide in the shadows to recover or die, which is a “regression phenomenon”. The ancestors of dogs lived in groups, and if any of the dogs were sick or injured, other dogs would kill the injured dogs to avoid being affected or left behind. This should be paid attention to by the owner or breeder of the dog, and a veterinarian should be consulted and treated in time. |
Pee marks | Wolves use urine to mark “territory, attract the opposite sex, or do signposts.” Dogs that evolved from wolves also inherited this habit from their ancestors. |
Territorial awareness | Dogs have territorial habits, occupy a certain range of their own, and protect it from other animals. They use gland secretions to give feces a special odor, sweat secreted by sweat glands between their toes, and scratching on the ground with their hind limbs as territorial markers. |
Hunting is able to | Dogs like to hunt creatures, and man takes advantage of this characteristic of the dog to drive away sheep, cattle and protect humans themselves. |
Interpret the psychology
Read the dog’s heart | |
Emotions | The dog’s jealousy is very strong, and when you focus on the new dog and neglect to take care of it, it will be angry, not abide by the habits it has developed, and become grumpy and destructive; the dog also has vanity and likes people to praise it. When it does a good deed, or does some small skill activity, you clap your hands to praise it, touch it, it will be satisfied; the dog also has a shy heart, such as it does something wrong or the hair is cut too short, it will hide somewhere, waiting for the stomach to be hungry before coming out; revenge, the dog often according to its sense of smell, vision, hearing, the object of the malicious treatment of the object remembered in the brain, at the appropriate time to implement the revenge plan. When the dog takes revenge, it is almost crazy, and it has the intention of killing the other party. |
Animal Kingdom “Good People” | Other animals can live in harmony with the dog for a certain period of time and be protected by the dog. |
Things to be afraid of | Dogs dislike alcohol the most. |
Dogs are afraid of fire, so they don’t like anything that smokes, such as match-drawing, smoking, etc.
Dogs don’t like to be alone, and dogs are particularly afraid of being alone. |
Interpret the other
Other habits of dogs | |
Do not defecate when eating | The dog’s defecation center is not developed enough to defecate while traveling. |
weakness | The dog’s weakness is on the right, and it will act to protect the right. When it is cornered, it will let its right side lean against the wall and turn its left side against the enemy. |

Remember: But in order to avoid malfunctioning and causing the dog to be hungry or thirsty, if you go out for a long time, it is recommended to let acquaintances often go to see it, or use a monitor to place it in the home and monitor the movement at any time. |
Kennels, kennels,
Push/pull cart/carry dog bag |
The one-square-meter open space is set aside for kennels, which is also a “private” activity area for dogs.
Kennel: It is recommended to use an easy-to-clean or interchangeable kennel. Dog cage: It is recommended to prefer a sturdy aviation dog cage, so that travel and hitchhiking are convenient. Push/pull/carry dog bag: For the purpose of taking the dog to see a doctor or travel, it is recommended to use a foldable type, which can save space. |
|
Halterboard | In case the dog is lost, customize a halterneck sign for the dog, which reads: (1) The owner’s approximate contact address. (2) Write special words “I’m lost please send me home Okay thank you”… wait. (3) Appropriate remuneration.
(Tip: (1) Do not put the contact address detailed to prevent the evil person from using it.) (2) If you are afraid of being harassed by the mobile phone number, you can put the mobile phone trumpet or “Penguin Number” or the like. (3) It is best not to write the name of the pet, in case it is used by the evil person to abduct the pet. (4) Write too much honorarium for fear of causing evil thoughts and deliberately do it. ) |

Training equipment | Rattles, ultrasonic whistles | (Specific usage baidu) |
Remote control barker | It is only used for the combination of “dog who has not changed over and over again + helpless owner”.
(Recommendation: Do not use poor quality, which can easily cause automatic identification errors to cause injury to the dog.) The remote control shape will not have automatic identification errors, but all in the hands of the owner. Remember: it is only available when tricking or barking, and should not be used indiscriminately/multi-purpose, otherwise it may lead to sequelae such as cowardice and cowardice of the dog. Tip: The function of the barker is different from the punishment, the barker is to give the dog a wrong “now”, to give the role of warning, and for animals with natural forgetfulness, “punishment after the fact” is useless. For details of usage, see the documentary “The Dog Whisperer”) |
|
Dog chains | A strap-on dog chain with a bracelet is recommended. (Tip: the collar type will strangle the neck, and it is easy to break free without a bracelet.) )
Muzzles | Use when walking a vicious dog or giving a dog an injection. (Recommendation: Use a solid one, otherwise it is easy to break free.) )

Common sense
- The whole family agrees to adopt, otherwise it is the dog that will eventually suffer and pay the price due to the family dispute.
- Make sure you have enough financial means to feed “yourself and your dog.”
- Guaranteed extra time and energy to clean up and aftercare “dog trouble”.
- Don’t rise and adopt: you can first adopt a friend’s dog (it is best to choose a mischievous dog) to try, if you can bear the consequences and then make plans, otherwise there may be a human mood ups and downs will bring lifelong regrets to the dog. Don’t throw away after adoption due to the excitement of “fashion and watching TV movies”. A whim is only because you are in the moment of seeing the “good side”, and whether you will continue to like the dog when you see the dog “insufficient” is an essential psychological element for adoption.
- If adopted, it is a lifetime.
- If you really can’t keep it, try to find a place for your dog, and please don’t abandon it.
- Household registration booklet, identification and photocopy;
- Immunization certificate issued by an animal epidemic prevention agency established in accordance with the law;
- 2 photos of dogs.
- Be sure to tie a leash to your dog when walking, because even if your dog is very docile, others don’t know, or even if you know that dogs are docile, there are people who are afraid, so you shouldn’t force others to accept your habits and your “docile” dog. When you notice that passers-by are afraid of your dog, please pull the dog leash closer to show that people respect each other, in order to try to make a good impression on “people who are prejudiced against dogs”.
- And must bring a “plastic bag to pick up dog feces” to avoid dog excretion.
- For dogs that love to bite or bark scarily, be sure to bring a strong muzzle (the dog with the unstable muzzle will fall off). (*Tip: To avoid the dog breaking free, please use the dog chain with a “bracelet”)
- “When taking the dog into the elevator or crossing the road” when entering the elevator or crossing the road, it is recommended to pull the dog rope close, it is recommended to pull directly from the dog’s “neck” and then enter the elevator, otherwise if the dog runs out, the elevator door is closed, the person and the dog will be separated by the elevator door, as the elevator goes up and down, the dog is likely to be strangled by the neck, and the “god quality” elevator will also be dangerous. (Recommended: Use a strappy dog chain with a bracelet.) Because the collar type will strangle the neck, it is easy to break free without a bracelet. )
- Most of the dogs that bark at you are not evil dogs. A real vicious dog, which will only intimidate you by barking unless its freedom is restricted, usually does not waste time giving you the opportunity to escape and barking at you, but as viciously as possible, it is directly at you, or even if it barks, it is also barking and viciously directing at you.
- A dog that barks at you but doesn’t get too close to you is barking to warn you that “you are in a forbidden area near it, and there are things it maintains nearby (puppies, territory, food, owner…). “This means that as you get closer and closer to what it maintains, the dog’s barking will be louder and more frequent, and you should know that you should not get any closer, and you can wait for its owner to come and continue.” Or take a slow detour and try not to give it a provocative misunderstanding, otherwise even a barking dog may eventually chase you after you with threats and fear.
- When you encounter a dog that barks and does not come close, do not look directly at it but look away, crouch down, and then slowly walk away when it is no longer barking.
- Or, when you encounter a dog that barks and doesn’t approach, let it bark but don’t look at it, don’t hurry and walk away slowly. Otherwise, the faster you walk away, the more vigilant it will be and chase you, and the more you resist, the closer you are to tragedy.
- Do not provoke dogs, especially vicious dogs, because the dog’s temper will get worse and worse. Second, although some dogs are leashed or their owners are present, if the dogs are really angry, they will not care that the three-seven-twenty-one chains will break free, and some dogs are very hostile.
- Prevent the dog from scratching people: After cutting off the dog’s nails, use the “dog nail set” to put on the dog’s nail cover to avoid it scratching people.
- Dog ownership knowledge:
Common sense around
- Early arrival: Book your aircraft in the aerobic cargo hold 2 days in advance and arrive at the aircraft cargo office 3 hours in advance.
- Avoid squeezing: Bring your own dedicated air case. (Tip: To avoid the staff from pressing other items on the box (1) you can paste the “fragile do not press” large sticker on the 6 sides of the air box.) (2) Or the periphery of the aviation box is tied with tape to bundle a plastic product. Otherwise being overwhelmed may be unexpected: example [17]).
- Drinking water provided: Almost all air tanks come with a drinking fountain. (Tip: You can freeze the water dispenser filled with water into ice cubes first, and then install it when you get on the plane, so you don’t have to worry about the water being overturned.) But remember, at this time, you should inquire more about the status of the pet, so as not to cause an accident to cause the pet to not keep up with the plane)
- Don’t transfer: If you transfer, there is a possibility that your pet will be mistakenly sent to a different place. (Tip: If the plane is delayed, ask the cargo office to send your pet to the arrival hold later to ensure safety.) )
- Sedatives: If your pet is easily nervous or irritated, you can buy a sedative from a veterinarian to take it (*Remember not to administer the drug indiscriminately).
- Air box to make a mark: In order to distinguish and quickly find, it is best to make a special mark on the air box.

prompt | Unless you trust the trafficker, it is recommended that after two weeks of observation of the newly purchased dog, if the dog is not unusual, it is recommended to re-vaccinate.
A combination vaccine means that the vaccine has “two to eight vaccines” in the range, and each additional one represents more defense against one disease.
Please follow your doctor’s advice on how to use the dosage!
The dog’s health should be observed before injection. Such as illness, nutritional disorders, fever, cough, diarrhea, vomiting, increased eye droppings, dry nose and hair… Vaccinations should not be given. After vaccination, it takes 2-3 weeks to achieve full immunization, during which it is forbidden: change of environment, change of food, bathing, vigorous exercise, contact with sick dogs, long-distance transportation, surgery… and pay attention to climate change.

Feeding – health
Canine disease ranking
Canine diseases with high mortality: 1. canine distemper, 2. small, 3. coronavirus….
Medical knowledge
- Avoid unwanted reproduction. If cats and dogs are not sterilized, the number of offspring increases geometrically: a pair of unsettered cats and dogs allow them to mate and breed, if they give birth to 2 litters per year, 2-8 per litter, theoretically the 5th year will increase to 12680. Flocks of wild cats or stray dogs in many countries or regions are the result of the continuous breeding of unfollown pets outside. A large number of unwanted small animals are born into the world, and the fate must be very tragic.
- Castrated pets are more temperamental and easy to keep, while avoiding the pain of the pet’s spring and the possibility of getting lost from home due to the search for a mate. Unscincted females have estrus 2 times a year and female cats have estrus every 3 months. During estrus, animals always try to go out to find a mate, even if they are locked up at home, they will be grumpy, or pee around to lure the opposite sex, and even damage furniture objects, bringing a lot of trouble. Male dogs will not be injured by fighting with each other because of the wind and jealousy.
- Castration is beneficial to the health of pets, and reproductive organ diseases such as breast and uterine infections in females, testicular cancer and prostate disease in males are no longer present.
- Is castration surgery on a pet too cruel? Obviously not. Castration is a minor procedure, especially for male castration surgery is simpler. The veterinarian performs under anesthesia, the animal is not in pain, and it quickly returns to health.
The main source of infection of Toxoplasma gondii is that people mistakenly eat the meat of animals infected with Toxoplasma gondii, or by-products produced by toxoplasmosis animals (such as eggs, milk, cakes, ice cream…). Related Products). Other sources of infection include: toxoplasmosis infection, mosquitoes, cockroaches, vegetables and fruits, grasslands, water, environment… wait. In the infection of Toxoplasma gondii, except for cats, which are the ultimate host, other animals are only intermediate hosts. Infected cat feces have toxoplasmosis cystic complexes, and the feces excrete cysts after infection in cats is not long, only 10-20 days. Sacs need to develop outside for 1-2 days or more to be contagious, so if you remove cat sand or cat feces every day, you are not afraid of being infected. Dogs are the intermediate host of Toxoplasma gondii, dogs can not produce infective oocysts for people after contact with Toxoplasma gondii, its feces and excrement are not contagious, so simple contact with dogs will not be infected with Toxoplasmosis. If you don’t eat dog meat, you won’t get infected.

First aid common sense
Methods of first aiding dogs in various crises
Dietary poisoning | Poisoning factors: Although dogs do not screen food as cats, there are few cases of dog poisoning. Sometimes the dog will eat harmful substances, and it will also lick the harmful substances that are stuck on the hair. Scavengers, paints, pesticides, foods with strong acids and alkalis or toxic fungi, detergents, bleach, sleeping pills, tranquilizers, and cold medicines can all cause poisoning. Signs of poisoning include acute vomiting, failure, rapid muscle twitching, stiffness, weakness, bleeding, and other symptoms. First Aid Steps: |
1. Rinse the dog’s hair to prevent more harmful substances from entering its body.
2. Check what drugs the dog has taken, and take the drug label or drug with you to the hospital.
3. If you know what your dog swallows, please bring these things with the container to the veterinarian.
5. If the veterinarian asks you to vomit on the dog with vomiting agent first, it is generally only effective if the dog vomits within 30 minutes after eating the toxic substance.
trauma | The most common trauma is a dog fight bite and a cut to the foot, if the dog’s fur is bloody, find the bleeding site, and the hair clot (blood clot) can be touched when the bleeding is not obvious. First aid steps: shave if necessary, expose the wound→ disinfect the wound with iodine wine (alcohol cannot be used to disinfect the wound) → rub the hemostatic → bandages→ and take the severe cases to the pet hospital for treatment. |
Motion sickness/seasickness | When the dog begins to get motion sickness and seasickness, the mucous membranes and gums become pale, vomit, saliva, don’t be nervous, rest for a while will get better; dogs with this habit can not eat, drink, or ask a doctor to prescribe medicine for eight hours before getting on the train or getting on the plane. |
drown | As soon as the dog comes ashore, the water will drain the lungs as soon as possible. First aid steps: Small dogs, lift the hind legs so that the dog is on the head and feet, and another person who helps opens the mouth and squeezes the chest. Large dogs, carrying the dog on their shoulders, the dog’s abdomen on the shoulders, the dog’s head down, opening its mouth, and squeezing the chest. |
Feeding – training
Good training period
The best time to train your dog
The ideal period for training begins around 70 days after the puppy is born. The fastest growth of dogs is 1 year after birth, during which the brain gradually develops and perfects, and learning is a critical period. In the puppy period, if it takes 2-3 months to correct, then it takes longer to correct the adult dog, no matter how old the dog can be trained.
Five months later | Most dog breeders believe that puppies at this age of five to six months are beginning to live independently and accept new things from the outside world, which is easier to cultivate. |
Before feeding | When the dog is hungry, training is a good time, in order to get the food in your hands, it will carefully follow your instructions, and this method has an effect on dogs of different ages. (Remember: don’t deliberately starve, just train before meals.) ) |
Training essentials
The essentials of training dogs
Corporal punishment is eliminated | Corporal punishment is the most important way to force a dog to obey. Like other animals, dogs are very wary of people. From the dog’s standpoint, being beaten and kicked for unknown reasons can only create the impression of “being abused”. If he is a very powerful owner, the dog may obey because of fear. However, dogs that grow up in this environment have extreme insecurity, sometimes attacking weaker children or the elderly, and even dangerous incidents of biting people. |
Praise/touch | The purpose of the training is to “teach”, not “scold”, and the best way is to praise and stroke frequently so that the dog understands the expression of the owner’s happy mood. |
Grasp the timing and praise: if it accidentally pollutes the place, do not punish it, do not push it to smell the dirt and scold it. Because it won’t understand, it’s more likely to defecate when you’re not there, and praise your puppy right away whenever it’s convenient.
Avoid extra compliments: Praise for dogs should be limited to when the dog is very obedient. If you praise the dog at every turn, it will confuse him, and he does not know when he will be praised. As a result, critical training is difficult to continue.
The password is clear | In order for dogs to understand and remember, it is best to use short, clearly pronounced sentences when training, and it is not appropriate to say them repeatedly. When issuing commands, avoid loud and atmospheric or angry tones. Because dogs are very sensitive, the above practices will cause dogs to gradually associate scolding with training. In addition, dogs with different temperaments should adopt different tones. For example, the same is “sitting”, the nervous dog should be gently or cheerfully commanded, the lively dog should be ordered loudly and categorically, and the breeder should choose different ways according to the personality of his dog. |
Trainers | Performed by the person closest to the dog in the family. Having a dedicated person train the dog reduces confusion caused by different instructions from different people. Call the dog by its name a fixed name for the dog. For example, the dog’s name is “Babe”, and different family members and neighbors on different occasions also have names called “Baby” and “Little Babe”, which will cause confusion to the dog. |
Correct in a timely manner | The moment when the dog is ready to do something “can’t be done”. If he reprimands it afterwards, the dog will not understand the reason and will continue to do the “can’t do” things. More seriously, when often reprimanded for unknown reasons, the dog will gradually develop a sense of distrust of the owner and become no longer listening to the owner. Dogs have only a fairly short memory of what they have done, and they have no way of recalling things like humans. When you come home to find your shoes bitten and yelling at the puppy, it will only think that what it did in that moment was wrong |
Practice resilience | Dogs often avoid things they don’t like, or bark at them, or simply destroy them. This can sometimes cause a lot of trouble for the host. In this case, first of all, be patient, never be impatient, let the dog slowly approach what he does not like, and at the same time keep speaking to it in a gentle voice to calm it down. If you scold the dog at this time, it will make the dog hide farther. In addition, this breeding method that keeps the dog away from things and places it does not like can only increase the distress of the breeder, and the breeder is helpless to do anything about it. |
Train anytime, anywhere | Training is not time-limited. In some daily lives such as walking, eating, and visiting, dogs should be patiently taught what is “should be done” and what is “not done”. |
Not comparable | Dogs have different abilities, so to take the speed to train with them, we must not compare with other dogs, so that we think that “our dog’s understanding is really poor.” Be confident in your dog. |
Never give up | Dogs are not animals that can be remembered and followed immediately by teaching them once or twice. It requires the gradual formation of memories during non-stop training. Therefore, the breeder is required to be patient and constantly train it. |
Expert consultation | During the training process, if you encounter any difficult problems, please feel free to consult a specialist or veterinarian. |
Train attention
Be careful when training your dog
Attention Juvenile Physical Fitness | In the process of training puppies, remember that puppies are not as endurance as puppies during adolescence or adult dogs, and they may have to rest or sleep after a period of active time. Usually, it is also necessary to strengthen the nutrition of dogs, and you can properly eat MAG goat milk powder and golden vitamins. |
Give enough activity | Dogs are bored when they are not active enough, and when dogs are bored, they will find fun and consume energy on their own, and the possible result is that the dog will turn over garbage, tear things and other behaviors. |
Be careful about the time of excretion | Puppies have an uncontrolled bladder and may need to pee immediately after drinking, eating, sleeping and playing, and may also go to the toilet at least once every three hours at night, as much as possible to take care of each time. |
Command up to 2 times | Dogs can’t understand the human communication method like humans, so if they don’t understand it after giving the dog 2 commands, please patiently guide the dog to show the action, let it “combine the command and the action to remember”, until it becomes inertia. |
Fundamentals of learning
Basic training on hooks
Name identity | The owner should take an easy name for the dog, it is recommended to take two or three words as the mainstay, not too long, and be patient to let the dog remember his name, call the dog’s name when issuing instructions, but do not call when punished. |
Obedience | Due to the inherent loyalty and obedience of dogs to people, once the training of people to dogs is developed, it is difficult for dogs to change. (Dogs use leashs to train and control behavior) |
excretion | Due to the characteristics of the dog’s gastrointestinal tract and the dog’s excretion after eating, after the dog eats, it will immediately take the dog to its fixed excretory place to hang out or use the dog chain to tie up, and then take the dog away after the toilet is completed. In addition, because the dog uses odor positioning and habit of fixed-point excretion, if the dog excretes in the wrong place, first clean the excrement, and then use a special “urine cleanser” to completely erase the smell left by the dog’s excrement, so as to avoid the dog from using the smell to find and excrete again. (*Reminder: Training needs to be practiced repeatedly, and after continuous practice, the dog will develop a conditioned reflex.) ) |
walk | In addition to bathing, keep the puppy often wearing a collar, when going out, attach a pull cord to induce the puppy to walk with you, it is best to keep it on your left side. If it has an attempt to run around, it can be gently tightened to limit it, and then relaxed when obedient. That is, the command to “allow or not to behave the dog” is expressed in the form of a pull rope. |
Drawstring training | Let the puppy get used to the collar and leash, the collar and the leash is a restriction on the puppy, and the puppy must understand that the collar and the leash are a part of their life. |
Cage training | Dog cage training is necessary, not to punish the dog, but to familiarize the dog with its own nest where it can rest, do not use the dog cage as a prop to punish confinement. |
Hierarchical psychology | Dogs can obey their masters, obey commands, and establish relationships of mutual understanding and love. This close-knit behavior of a dog is determined by its hierarchical psychology. In the dog’s mind, the owner is his natural leader, and the owner’s home is his territory. It is precisely this hierarchical psychology of the dog that the dog will obey the owner’s orders and be loyal to its owner. If the dog’s level of the owner is reversed, the dog often threatens and attacks the owner. Sometimes raising a dog is a bit harder, after setting the rules for the dog, the owner and the dog must be routine, such as feeding on time and not giving snacks for the rest of the time, not because of the dog’s pleading and swaying the original rules. Long-term indulgence of dogs can easily occur the problem of rank inversion, and the first thing a novice dog to do is to send information to the dog about who is the owner. (For details, see the documentary “Dog Whisperer”, do not blindly imitate) |
Learn talent
Train your dog to learn talent
Sitting training methods | After issuing the sitting command to “sit”, lift the dog chain in your hand and force the dog to touch the ground with his butt, sit up, and maintain this position. Observe the dog’s reaction, if there is a performance of standing up, you can repeat the command again, and when the dog can sit for a while, give it a little food reward. |
Lying position training method | First order the dog to sit down, then hold the dog’s favorite food in one hand and the dog chain in the other. In front of the dog, the food is slowly put on the ground from high to low, and the dog will lie on the ground with the food in the owner’s hand, or it will not be able to eat food. This training can be carried out several times, and this method is used whenever the dog is eating. |
Lying posture training method | First let the dog lie down, then hold down one of the dog’s front feet, let the food shake in front of the dog, and then put it next to the other foot, the dog will lie down and try to eat the food, at this time, the owner should let the dog eat the food, repeat this step, you can also train the dog when the dog is eating. |
Come over and train the method | This training requires gestures and passwords to be carried out at the same time, while issuing a “come” password, while reaching out to beckon the dog to come, of course, in the hand to hold the dog’s favorite dog food, we can use this method to feed the dog food to the dog little by little, the dog is used to this way of eating, as soon as you hear the password you issued will run to you. |
Handshake training method | The owner crouches down and orders the puppy to squat well, and then the owner taps one of the dog’s front legs with his hand, and the dog will instinctively lift that leg. At this time, the owner should quickly grab the raised leg and issue a handshake password at the same time, repeat this step, when the dog can consciously lift the leg after hearing the command, you can reward it with some food. |
